Loneliness

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

Loneliness and being alone are different things. Being alone is an enriching and necessary experience. You can enjoy solitude, being in society with your own Self. Whereas, quoting Hannah Arendt, "the lonely man finds himself surrounded by others with whom he cannot establish contact or to whose hostility he is exposed". What is especially remarkable about our current era is that we are living in the Age of Loneliness, as George Monbiot wrote in his wonderfully deep article published in The Guardian. The lack of the real, natural, non-digital connectedness exacerbates the feelings of loneliness which people of all times have been at the mercy of.

It says a great deal about mankind, how many quotes about loneliness there have been out there. Starting with the great quote of Yalom and followed by Jung, Schopenhauer, Twain, to name a few:

"Loneliness does not come from having no people around you, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to you." Dr. Carl Jung.

"Loneliness is the fate of all outstanding minds." Dr. Arthur Schopenhauer.

"The worst loneliness is not to be comfortable with yourself." Dr. h. c. Mark Twain.

Let's talk

When did you unburden your heart last time? When did you have an open and non-judgmental talk and somebody who actively and deeply listened to you? When did you reflect on yourself and your life in a warm, secure and insightful atmosphere?

On April 12th and 13th, I will participate in the annual Swiss human resources management fair "Personal Swiss" in Zurich. Feel free to arrange a conversation free of charge and without any obligation on these days or at a time convenient to you via my email nb@y-coaching.com or phone +41 78 910 25 73.

I will be happy to talk to you!

Ich freue mich, mit Ihnen zu sprechen!

Я буду рада разговору с Вами!
